About Us

We’ve plugged into the network of people who have taken ownership of the problem of waste management on the tip of the African Continent. We all believe that to take care of our inland marines is to take care of our oceans. We do not wait for waste to travel throughout our rivers, streams, dams, etc. before we intercept. We firmly believe in early interception.

We are inland in the heart of the South African economy, where great environmental champions all lead the way in the protection of our oceans. We also educate, especially the young minds, while we reminisce together with older minds about clean spaces.

Lesotho is about 130km to 190km from the nearest ocean, the Indian Ocean. Yet, many Basotho nationals have descended from the mountains onto the greatest polluting South African cities, to protect the oceans upon which we all depend. They’ve come to join hands with their brethren to preserve our planet for future generations.

Intervention at the oceans is too late. Waste is best managed before it enters the network that leads to the oceans. Inland is where it all starts. That is why we believe in defending and protecting the reclaimers who dedicate their lives to this onerous task.

South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and other neighbouring countries have clubbed together to make light of the heavy lifting. Much more is required from everyone. The first being to protect the dignity of these amazing champions, Reclaimers (Ocean Protectors). Followed by behavioral change from ordinary citizens towards how we treat waste.

As Citizens, we must sort our waste and hand over what is ready to be recycled to Reclaimers (Ocean Protectors). They should not be scratching in bins for treasures that could be handed to them in their hands.

Dignifying Reclaimers

  • These are the second line of defence for our oceans. Let's respect their work
  • The first line of defence are the ordinary citizens. By disposing waste properly we save our oceans
  • Reclaimers save RSA Gov about R1b annually
  • They deserve to be dignified and to derive a share

Cleaning Campaigns

  • Things take time, so we run regular campaigns
  • Attitudes must change to regularise cleaning
  • We're constantly on the lookout for new Protectors
  • Active  Citizenry eventually negates the need for campaigns. Campaigns are temporary stop gaps

#2

Recycling

  • We work with waste pickers, to redirect recyclables
  • We collaborate with other recycling Champions

#3

Rehabilitation

  • Fauna and Flora depend on responsible and responsive communities
  • When frogs are silent in streams, intervention is required
  • We favour indigenous over invasive species plants

#4

Education

  • We positively influence environmental behavioural patterns
  • We train young minds, to become environmentalists
  • We remind older minds about how it was when spaces were spotless
